    The Project

    Dulwich Village in southeast London is one of the few inner-city areas that despite urban regeneration has maintained its village heritage. The area is surrounded by large trees, traditional white picket fences and a selection of independent shops, boutiques cafes, and a Grade II listed pub.

    Southwark Council wanted to better manage the space and air quality in the borough and set up the Kerbside Strategy, an initiative aimed to prioritise walking and cycling as a mode of transport.

    Project Solution

    To reduce congestion caused by traffic in the village a seating and planter solution was added to the closed off roads. RailRoad seating and integrated planters with Edge supports were chosen in a selection of configurations; an independent bridge module and two end modules with backrests and armrests which were powder coated to a standard RAL colour.

    Positioned outside the array of shops the seating and planters are a welcome addition to the village, widely used by the locals providing free seating space accessible for everyone either walking or cycling in the street.
