    While you’re quite likely to encounter our products and projects just by walking down the street (or by having a quick look around our projects), we wanted a physical space where we could show off our latest and greatest work. Somewhere our clients can touch and feel our products, be inspired, and understand the potential they have within a well-designed outdoor space. 

    Not only would we display and test our products in their intended outdoor environment, but we wanted our base of operations to wholly reflect our purpose as a business: that all outdoor, public space should be beautiful, functional, and make you want to stay. 

    While we usually take our clients to see our instalments, we also wanted a versatile space that we could change on a whim – a space where our colleagues could show off their favourite projects. Speaking of the team, when not being showcased to our clients in person, the new area could serve as a quiet place for the team to take a break from their desks and screens, and enjoy some fresh air.

    So, the hunt for the perfect space began.

    When we first moved into the new office space, hidden away between concrete, glass, and steel, was a rather shabby, underutilised courtyard. Nobody had used the space for a very long time as it didn’t exactly invite you to linger. It didn’t take long for the wheels to be set in motion to transform this space into the showcase area we were dreaming of.

    Our vision was to create a serene plot where people would go to relax and give their mind a break from their day.

    We also wanted to include a functional aspect: the courtyard was perfect as a blueprint for our ongoing education on how to build better cities.

    The Result

    The entire process was incredibly collaborative. We worked with a number of different companies such as Outdoor Deck Company, Atrium, and GreenEnvee to create a multiuse area that works cohesively, with colours and materials that worked seamlessly together for a single unique space with 4 unique functions:

    1. A space for our clients to see and feel our products in one place and show some of the best ways our products can be used.
    2. A quiet place for the team to meet outdoors, away from desks and technology.
    3. A research environment where we can test new designs, ideas, and materials, so that we understand how the surrounding conditions can affect the way our materials age and last. We’ve already tested some new solar panels for seating, and a thermally-modified ash that we are planning on launching next year. 
    4. An event area that can allow us to host some incredible additions to our calendar. The first party we held in the courtyard coincided with the London Design Festival, and we have other events planned for 2024. 

    We also added some planters and some parts of our seating ranges, to distinguish between areas and give each spot a function.

    Veeva+ Seat with Solar-Powered Wireless Charging and Lighting

    Simple and contemporary design with its wedge-shaped seat supports, our independent Veeva bench and seat has been adapted to use a solar panel instead of timber, charging your phone and lighting the surroundings using solar power.
